The Miracle Growers and the New Art Room

The Miracle Growers
12x12" mixed media on canvas paper
in my Etsy Shop

This was an intuitive piece...put down colors and wait for something to appear.  I used acrylic, stamps, sponges, brushes, papers and charcoal.

Big changes in the Graham household with our youngest son getting married and moving out of the house.  We are missing his company and his music (he is a music major in college), but we are keeping ourselves busy combing through the house and reorganizing things, getting rid of things and so on.

The good thing about this new empty nest experience is that I get our son's old room for my art room.  It has amazing light all day long from south and west windows.  The design on the wall was done by our son's long time friend a few years ago when KC turned his bedroom into a piano studio.  They worked hard taping it off and then painting it so I am leaving it for now...maybe forever.  I have to admit though, that I keep wanting to paint faces into those circles and diamonds.  :)
The new art room...so glad to not have to paint at the dining room table anymore.

Have a great day everyone!
♥ Lisa

  11. It's wonderful that you have your own space - though the missing of a child gone can be difficut - but you've turned it into something positive. Really like your christening of the new room artwork.

  14. How wonderful to have your own art room! The painted wall is great and I think you should add faces to the circles and diamonds if you want to. It's a room that needs to reflect you now.

  18. Hi Lisa,
I swear. If your work doesn't end up in an art museum someday, I'll be shocked. This is pure you and wonderful. I can't help but wonder if the joy of the wedding and subsequent changes around your home had some degree of influence on you during the making of this piece. Happiness can do amazing things!
Enjoy your new art room, but I know you are already.
    Have a good day tomorrow.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  21. Lisa......what a gorgeous space you have now! I know it's sort of sad when our kids grow up and move out but that's all part of the bigger plan of life as a parent. So now it's your time to have your own studio space! I like the idea of faces, especially the faces you paint, looking out at you from the circles. They could cheer you on! xo

  28. This is a really really beautiful piece. I really like playing like that too. And that's fabulous about the new art room. My art table is in what we call "the back room", but it has three huge south windows, and the sun streams in all day long in the winter.

(and I live in Lawrence, by the way).

I really really like your work.

Thank you so much for your visit!!! I am going back to responding to comments as time allows via email rather than here on the blog. It seems more personal that way to me.
