Patch Dress Traveler #3
mixed media on 12 x 16" stretched canvas
This third painting in the Patch Dress Traveler series took quite a while to complete. There are just so many things that don't come easily to me. In this painting in particular, it was the side profile of the lady, the dog, the geese (if you can call them geese), and the houses...pretty much everything was a nuisance. I found myself wishing there was an artist help line that I could call. Here in the USA we have services like "Ask A Nurse" where you can call on the telephone or ask online any variety of medical questions and a professional nurse will answer.
Is there such a thing for artist? If there is, can I have the number please?
:)
Well, I'm off to start on #4...it will probably be the last one. It involves a bike...we will see if I can pull this off.
Have a great week! |
Lisa I love these patch dress pieces. And looking at the finished piece, I see no struggle! But if you get that artist help line number, will you share! Wouldn't that be wonderful! - an Ask an artist hot line!
ReplyDeleteThis is delightful Lisa!
ReplyDeleteI love all the details on this paintings, it's just Wonderful!
It's been many years I try to have that phone number!!;-)
the line would probably be constantly busy... ; )
ReplyDeletewalking a dog - that is very, very brave painting in my book...

Hi Lisa :) i am just dropping by to say hello .. (and yes i wish i could come by in Kansas!..)
ReplyDeleteLove this painting, and you know that help line sounds fabulous!
xo sandra
This is such a great painting! I love the colors you used and the way you sized the houses and the print on the dress... it's so imaginative and conjures up lots of good stories. I think the "Call an Artist" line for us is either Blogger or Facebook!
ReplyDeletewell i think it turned out wonderful
ReplyDeletei also find scenes to be challenging
i bet there are lots of people who would be happy to critique and give ideas
some people just love doing that
wishing you a grand time with your next piece
What a great idea.....it would be busy.....they'd need a few artists to field the questions!
ReplyDeleteNone of your paintings show any struggle but I know what you mean and I wish we were closer so we could give each other pep talks! xo Carole
Wonderful work. I love all those amazing details you put into this piece!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear it was a struggle dear Lisa, but you worked these things out for yourself and the results are fabulous. This is a wonderful, interesting and complex painting.
ReplyDeleteI think the more we know the harder it gets. You are knowing more for sure!
i can't believe what you come up with lisa. this is so WONDERful! everything about it. and your imperfections as you mention are perfect, it's what makes your work so "doggone" special! xo
ReplyDeleteNice job Lisa. Keep it up, if it was easy everyone would be doing it and we'd be looking for something harder to do.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your next painting.
Miss Patch Dress Traveler #3 is just wonderful! Lisa! I think your geese are perfect. I really like her dress and the cute doggie too! I'm enjoying this series. D~~~~
ReplyDeleteYou know, that ask an artist idea isn't such a bad one! We need one of those!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing beautifully well, my dear. Your style is original and the help line would be primarily to reassure you that "original" beats "cookie cutter" every day.
ReplyDeleteI love this series.
Bises,
Genie
I don't think you need it but if you get that magic phone number would you pass it on to me?
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute Lisa!!! Call an artist! LOL! I think the painting is gorgeous!! I find when I am having problems, I just walk away. Like last night, a painting wasn't working out. I woke up this morning and I finished it! I wasn't meant to create it last night. Sorry, I am still thinking about your art!! Big Hugs ;o)
ReplyDeleteYou are to funny. I think your painting looks wonderful. Even those geese. I am looking forward to what you do with the bike..
ReplyDeleteHugs~
haha, I think YOU should start an artist help-line...looks to me like you could provide the answers! I love this painting and the others in your series. Congratulations on your new art room (and on your son's marriage!) Those lights are excellent...makes me want to hang lights too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun painting! I love that dress and the dog! I'd love to hear the story that goes with it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful colours, love the green lightening trees,-a happy and lovely painting dear Lisa.
ReplyDeleteThankyou for your comment today, so kind of you dear.
It seems to be solved now :-)
Hugs,Dorthe
This is wonderful Lisa!! i love her dress.. :) hugs
ReplyDeleteDelightful! that lady looks so elegant too! Love all the things you have put in the painting -- doesn't look right now that there were ever a nuisance -- but I hear you! And I think you have a business proposition there in that help line idea -- hope you publish the number here and share with us ;)
ReplyDeleteYes Lisa! There is such a place! It the internet, and I go there all the time to see how other artists manage something I'm struggling with. Read Austin Kleon's 'Steal Like an Artist' to free yourself from any guilt you might feel from getting help from all the other artists on the net. If you feel any guilt. I don't. I'm sure they want to help.....
ReplyDeleteI don't think you need help you have your own original style which is working. It is a good idea to do series of paintings, I should do the same but have a short attention span. Good luck with the last one, look forward to seeing it.
ReplyDeleteI love this series, Lisa, and I love your style of art.

Well I think being a nuisance must be a good thing, as the painting turned out wonderfully.... love the trees, and the geese and the houses, and the women and her fabulous skirt and her lovely dog... all wonderful. I hope you enjoyed it as well as it being hard. It all worked beautifully in the end.
