A Change in Blogging Attitude and How Meridian Fields Finally Dried

Meridian Fields
oil and cold wax

There is a beautiful farm close to where I live here in Kansas and one day as the sun was setting, the field was all aglow.  I turned my car around, parked, and took a picture and that photo was my guide for this painting.  Of course the red-headed figure was not there, she is just my own added touch to the scene.  Perhaps the farmer's wife?

I have shared this painting before...seems like many moons ago and it is finally dry.  I think it had something to do with the cold wax to paint ratio?  I am not sure, but the final result made me very happy.

To my fellow blog friends
Life is throwing some curveballs lately which is the reason for my absence from your blogs.  I know we don't owe each other apologies for such things, but I wanted you to know there are reasons. Not to worry, all is okay with me and my family.  However, I am not feeling as free to share personal things on the internet anymore for various reasons.  I have shared much in the past, and I figured many of you that know me through this blog might take notice of this change.  Please know I am the same old Lisa...I care about you and I care that you care about me.  I fear coming across on my blog as cold or as some sort of painting robot, but it seems necessary to just stick to artwork here from now on. I will aim to still be personable...just without the personal...if that makes sense.  Thank you in advance for understanding my change of pace here.

In gratitude for you my friends,

♥Lisa

  7. Like the others above, I am not concerned about not getting personal information. I never thought it was necessary; this is your artist blog and it is your paintings I want to see. Your paintings tell us all about you!

  9. I had to think about this one a LOT.
Meridan Fields is a very beautiful and emotionally charged painting. When you get to painting things like pumpkins with a huge knife plunging through them at Halloween - then I will get worried, but until then it appears a painting like this beauty, will be just fine.

  11. Finding that line between sharing too much and sharing too little is tough sometimes. I often struggle with that and then there are family members and other people reading and sometimes it all gets to be too much! I agree with everyone above...your blog is wonderful and you will never seem cold!

This painting is lovely. I can feel the glow! I am fascinated, once again, by your process. I have never used cold wax. I am off to Google all about it. Thank you for sharing!

  14. I completely understand what you're saying about online boundaries and
how creepy it feels when someone crosses them. The only thing that tempts
me to continue to blog and comment is the reality that there are talented
folks to learn from and the honest to goodness real friends I've made. Do
what you need to to feel secure in these online waters. Be well!

  15. We ALL have to be "careful" in this computer era!!! So I totally agree with you... but putting our artwork out there helps us all....whether in just showing them or getting critiques...it's a wonderful thing. This one is beautiful... I love how you captured the texture in the fields...nice work, Lisa!!

  16. Share your art, as we cannot separate our soul from our art, and it shines through without any words, or only the ones you wish to share. Blessings to you and all your loved ones.

  17. perhaps she is visiting from some far away place. I don't think she looks very farmerish;-) still it is a lovely painting. I hope all is well with you and that the changes you have made to the way you post on your blog haven't changed the essential you.

  18. Thank you so much for all the supportive comments everyone! Just to clarify...nothing specific happened to cause a change of mind about sharing personal things on my blog. It is just a change in feelings about the whole matter of blogging that has developed over time. Thanks for the concern. All is well.

  21. No explanations necessary, hope someone did not take advantage, that would be such bad form. Love the painting, not knowing anything about the cold wax. Someday explain if you would. xox
