Ancestors of the Tapestry

Ancestors of the Tapestry
oil and cold wax
9 x 12 inch gesso panel
SOLD

This painting has been shown in progress a couple of times on my blog.  I was not sure the mega-texture was going to work with this, but it was kind to me.

Some areas were easy because of the texture, like the flowing hair on the figure on the right and also the grass.  Other areas were more of a challenge. Take the arm, for example...so bumpy.  However, once I added the lace sleeve, that seemed to cure the problem.

Here are some close-up views.

Happy week to you all.  More work to show you soon.  I've been painting a lot.

  1. This is only 12x9"??? It has the power of a much larger painting.

  10. I love the texture on this, Lisa. The lace sleeve has come up lovely with the added texture and I like the way you have left the figure in the background looking pale and interesting.

  13. The blues and pinks of the main figures dress are like a carpet of flowers. So rich and beautiful. I know what you mean about texture working well in some areas while others warrant a more smooth finish. I think the finished piece is beautiful. The textures and colours work in harmony. I love the title too....very mysterious and captivating.

  17. I think you are tapping into spirt when you are painting. Does your main character see the ancestors ? Then in "Adrift" where is the main character going? Permanently going there?
