Ammi

Ammi

Ammi was inspired by a love for folk art and Victorian clothing. The name Ammi is originally a Hebrew boys' name meaning "my people", however people today are naming their girls Ammi. I think the name is so beautiful.

I am still working on the 16 x 20 oil portrait.  Actually, I have not touched it since the last post as I have been working on another piece and projects around the house. I hope to finish it this weekend.

I hope you have a really good one.  Thank you as always for visiting!

  2. This is a wonderful composition for such a small painting. It reads large,
I get lost in wonder at your poetry of detail. The lamp shade, her neckline area, cuffs and sofa pattern. And are those earrings I see?
    All capture my interest.

Ammie - is it pronounced differently than Amy?

    1. What a nice comment Julie, thank you. I think it's "Am Me". But I am not positive about that.

    1. Aren't you glad we don't have to dress that way though? I think it would be terribly uncomfortable! Thank you for you kind comment Crimson! :)

  7. I just realized how your paintings and your home are so similar. It seems you may be painting your life. I love the detail you include as your viewers are held to the painting in study and appreciation.

  8. Ammi is a lovely name. I haven't heard it before. I really like the way you have painted the lamp and its glow. Since 'Nigel' I've noticed your growing mastery of painting artificial light.

    1. I had never heard it before either until the other day. Painting light is still a challenge, but I am glad you noticed that I tried in this one, even though the effort was minimal. Thank you Morag! xo
