Green Couch mixed media on canvas 16 x 20 inch |
Painting interiors, especially simple ones can be so pleasing. These are mixed media works, but mostly done with acrylic paint. I used cut papers for the pillows, lamps and coffee table in the couch painting, and on the chairs in the table painting. I have another one in the works that is a kitchen scene. I feel most at home with the kitchen painting because I spend so much time in my real kitchen.

Both of these are now at Tessera Fine Art Gallery here in Wichita. I usually take my new pieces to the gallery and the rest of my art gets listed on Etsy. Someone asked me if I wanted to do art fairs and festivals at some point. I haven't taken that avenue because of having to buy equipment like a tent and the surfaces to hang the paintings on. Plus, you have to find a way to take credit cards. And there is weather to think about also. Kansas is pretty windy, a bit risky when you are dealing with one-of-a-kind work you spent hours and hours creating. Lastly, I am too energetic to hold still for two or three days. I would be miserable sitting, sitting, sitting.
I hope you have had a great beginning of your week!
Lisa
Lisa, I truly love them both! There is something about them, they are very calming to me! I really love them! Love the colours, the details, love everything!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the art fairs. I think I would be miserable sitting and sitting too! LOL!
Big Hugs! Keep being you!
Thank you Stacy. I was so glad to read you found them calming. That's great! Big hugs and thank you for stopping by!
DeleteHi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI salute your decision to avoid fairs and the like. I tried a few when we lived in Tennessee and quickly realized the reality of everything you mentioned as reasons to stay away.
I never had a job in retail, but after those few experiences, would never want one. Nothing worse than watching potential buyers wander by and never say a word. Many were hesitant to make eye contact or say hello, for fear of a sales pitch. The folks who can do this year in and out are very special people.
Just keep doing what makes you happy and success has, and will keep coming your way.
I congratulate you on all your recent works and accompanying sales.
Have a great evening!
Sincerely,
Gary
Hi Gary,
DeleteI agree with you about artists who do fairs being special people. I have seen many who seem to really enjoy the events for all reasons from being outdoors to meeting new artists and art collectors. All is good I agree, but it's not enough for me to not notice the downside to it all. I am not a negative person, but I don't like hassle.
Thank you for your comment and encouraging words, Gary.
Aloha!
Bonjour,
ReplyDeleteJ'aime la manière qui vous est propre d'interpréter la peinture d'intérieure.
Gros bisous 🌺
Merci Martine!
DeleteAbsolutely wonderful. Especially simplicity table. It is actually one of my favourite of all your pieces. Those chairs are so elegant as is the muted palette you use.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Morag. I enjoyed the muted palette a lot, however, the kitchen I am working on is much more bright!
DeleteLove that sofa! And clever use of the paper.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of ways to sell-you already found some successful ones. No need to have your work blowing around in the wind:)
Libby
I so agree...let's keep the work safe, Libby!
DeleteThanks for the comment!
I love these Lisa especially the second one. Such a lovely calming colour palette.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole, thank you. I love lighter colors too...there is something so airy about them, especially in a room. I follow several Instagram home interior designers that have very white rooms in all their posts. They are very "blank" looking, but still so pleasing and simple.
DeleteI appreciate you comment. Take care!
Both truly YOU! I love them and your colors are wonderfully sophisticated.
