The Could-Bes before and after mixed media on linen 6 x 8 inch fixed to board (sold) |
I started this small painting a few nights ago and when it was finished I posted both of these photos on my Facebook art page asking which version everyone liked best...Before or After. Most said after. It was interesting to read the comments of the people that liked both versions for different reasons. That's how I feel about it too. I like both, though I feel the second version is more in line with my style.
How about you?
Have a blessed weekend.
Love the AFTER!!
ReplyDeleteThey are so soft and sweet!!!
I like them both too - but I like the before best - there's a dreaminess about it. The background seems more complex and (for me) I like the untold story it presents. It could be a young girl with her mother - there's a look of defiance on the young girl to match the worried look on the mom . . . .
ReplyDeleteOH wow, you nailed these two paintings. The colors are so rich and clear; the background full of interest.
ReplyDeleteI think both are beautiful but I love most the haunting sense...
ReplyDeleteLove the before and after....amazing background!
ReplyDeleteThe first could be a dream version of the second. Cousins as girls then
ReplyDeletegrown up? I love them both!
so interesting to consider peoples thoughts and opinions. I enjoy it because i get to see my art and your art new.
ReplyDeleteI love the light, colors and background in the first piece.
I was noticing the white around the ladies hand in the after piece, makes me think she has magic inside, maybe a healer. they are both lovely.
Like them both - a LOT!
ReplyDeleteDifferent reasons for the different versions, but it is what YOU like best that is important.
that's when Lisa shines through.
Both, and I'm not just being diplomatic. They are two very different paintings. If I had to choose one, though, I would say before - it has more of a "story."
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And I like both versions although I think there are elements of the pink girl which I like best, I think it is the blurry almost out of focus look. You are right though the second finished image is YOU and that what to me makes it the winner!
ReplyDeleteI like both too. Something ethereal about before that intrigues me, the after is you wonderful ladies together. xox
ReplyDeleteAfter for sure. Delicate an lovely Lisa.
ReplyDeleteI like them both, side by side. Indeed, like a before and after:) Sorry I am late in commenting. Hope all is well!
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, thanks for your feedback and kind words. I have enjoyed reading the comments. My laptop computer has died and I don't have the patience to sit at the desk right now, so I will return once I get my laptop replaced. Oh the age we live in. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
Dearest Lisa-I sincerely like both. The first leaves perhaps a bit more for the viewer to finish. The after just has the more detail. For me both really work. Hope you are having a super day.
